Learn to adapt without fear

Making any type of lifestyle change involves adapting. Adapting to new foods, tastes, lifestyle choices, schedule and emotions. With any adaptation, we can sometimes experience the emotion of fear. And it is this fear of change that would hold you back from truly achieving success with your journey going The Paleo Way, becoming the best version of yourself.

When I first became Paleo, I was really worried my body wouldn’t be able to sustain itself in regards to energy for training and muscle growth. I had been told for many years in numerous fitness magazines that to increase muscle strength and size, and to feel energised, that I needed a diet rich in carbohydrates from processed grains and sugar. So the decision I was faced with to cut them out and eliminate them from my diet, was really scary. I was so fearful that I would lose the energy to train hard and that I would also drop muscle size in the process. I wondered how my body would be able to push hard in the gym, and then repair itself sufficiently without the high level of carbohydrates I had been consuming for so many years.

I pushed the fear aside and decided to commit to my new way of life.

I soon discovered I could get phenomenal physical results from a high fat, moderate protein, low carb approach. I didn’t need all of the ‘filler’, as I refer to it now, to achieve my goals. In fact, my body transformed completely once I eliminated the nasty things that once I was so scared to ditch. I was leaner, stronger, faster and with more energy than I had ever felt before.

If I had let fear control my decision as to whether ditch the grains, sugar, pulses and legumes, I wouldn’t be writing this today, feeling full of health, wellness and on top of my game.

So be brave guys. For you it might be dairy, or perhaps alcohol, or for many of us, the sweet stuff, sugar. Commit to your new lifestyle and allow your self to adapt. If fear comes knocking, you knock it on its head and prove to yourself you can achieving anything if you set your mind to it.
