Protein

Protein

A common question we often get asked is how much protein we should be consuming when living The Paleo Way. And I guess it is really important to start by saying The Paleo Way is not a high protein diet, in fact, it is only moderate. We aim to feel fuller, for longer and gain our energy from good quality fat sources.

A common question we often get asked is how much protein we should be consuming when living The Paleo Way. And I guess it is really important to start by saying […]

Ideally, we recommend the average adult to consume no more than a palmful of protein per meal. If you are a high level athlete or a growing child your protein needs are about 25% more. We don’t advocate for protein restriction in pregnant women (or women trying to get pregnant) at all.

The Paleo Way is about having a small amount of protein and then filling the rest of your plate with the delicious nutrient dense side dishes, some fermented veg and some good fats like, avocado, olives, nuts and seeds.

A lot of the recipes will leave you with an excess of protein leftovers to fill your freezers up, store in airtight containers in the fridge to have on hand to add into a quick salad or some leftover veggies too as a quick meal option, or share amongst your tribe.

We really encourage you to think of the meal planner as a guide and sometimes you may have 3-4 leftover meals that you can replace a whole days worth of meals with so you don’t real need to cook that day. We want this lifestyle to make life easier for you through bulk cooking.

It is really important to note that we do not always need to eat 3 meals a day. When living The Paleo Way, we regulate our appetites to understand to eat when we are hungry and stop when we are full. We sometimes only eat one or two meals a day depending on how our body feels, what physical activity we have done, and our requirements.

You really need to listen to your body, and understand everyone is different and will require different amounts of nutrients each day, so just be open to change, and allow your body to tell you what it needs.
