Resolutions – A bigger picture

Resolutions – A bigger picture

Well, it’s that time of year, we are saying goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016.  It’s the time of the year when a lot of people are thinking about what they are going to do differently next year.

Well, it’s that time of year, we are saying goodbye to 2015 and hello to 2016.  It’s the time of the year when a lot of people are thinking about […]

There has also been a lot of talk, conjecture and even prophecies about the changes we have gone through in the last few years. One viewpoint had the end of 2012 being a very big juncture point for a change in consciousness. There was the end of the period that the Mayan Calendar pointed to and the beginning of the next phase. I won’t go into all of that, but it certainly makes for some fantastic food for thought as we have gone through a big shift in consciousness in the last couple of years with more and more people exploring all things healthy, free and well.  Whether you believe in anything like prophetic points of change or not, doesn’t really matter, the fact is, more than ever, now seems like a great time to really decide what you want your life to look like.

When it comes to new years resolutions or new world resolutions (Mayan Calendar), maybe it’s time to break out of being stuck on the energy of “what I want”?  I am fortunate to be working with people, organizations, clubs etc on a daily basis.  I get to see what works and what doesn’t work.

I can tell you that anyone who decides on making change in their life but doesn’t have an element of “the greater good” in their decision making, ends up coming back to the change table (or the drawing board) in the not too distant future, needing to have another crack at it.  At the deepest level, as human beings, we are not designed to take – without giving back.  If we do, eventually, something has to give.

Whether it is our health, our wealth, our family, business or our relationships, if we don’t have a balance of giving and receiving we eventually come back to the same point, something has to change.

There has to be an element of a “bigger picture” in our decision making if we want change to be fulfilling.

Even if we have had a long run of failures, shortfalls or bad luck, when the ball finally rolls our way unless we can find a way to create more win/win situations and less win/lose situations, we will not ultimately be satisfied.  In other words, when you look in the mirror at night or your head hits the pillow, you won’t necessarily be completely fulfilled with the “new toned body” or “abundance of money in the bank” or “ the new sports car” etc, without a bigger picture.

Don’t take my word for it, check it out for yourself.  Become the scientist and the experiment.  When it comes to making change, don’t just try something new and hope for results, take a step back and observe whether it was really a fulfilling result and question “why” or “why not”.  If you can’t see it yet in yourself, you will certainly see it in others.

So, when it comes to your “new year” or “new world” resolutions, don’t just decide what you need, have a ponder about what the world needs too.  Don’t get me wrong I am not talking about being a mater, I am talking about being an example.  Enjoy life, have fun,  make decisions, share, accept no limits, judge and gossip less, lend a hand where you can and ultimately, love a little or a lot more.  The world could certainly do with a few more people living that way.

Remember, bring it into now and never underestimate the power of who you are.

The aim is a nice bright outlook with a bit more perspective for 2016.
