At the beginning of the year I started a new school. My mum and me went shopping for my new uniform. The lady in the shop gave me an averaged size pair of shorts and they were too small. My mum had to ask three times for a bigger pair. I was so embarrassed and ashamed. I always felt slow and tired at playtime. I never got bullied for being bigger but I was feeling embarrassed.

Before The Paleo Way

After The Paleo Way

“One Sunday night in June I decided that I wanted to be healthy like my mum. So I started eating Paleo.”

I used to eat lots of potato chips, 2 minutes noodles, cheese on toast, and muesli bars. Anything that was quick and easy. I was always hungry and never got full. I even started to hide chip packets in different rubbish bins so my parents didn’t know. I just told my mum and dad about that a couple of weeks ago.

My mum was cooking lots of Paleo food and I liked it all. One Sunday night in June I decided that I wanted to be healthy like my mum. So I started eating Paleo.  That night I made fruit roll ups and nut bars from Pete’s Family Food cookbook. They were yum. From that night, I only ate Paleo food. Two of my favourite meals are butter chicken and Vietnamese chicken. 

At school in my classroom we get rewards of chocolate or lollies, my teacher knows now not to offer me any as I always say “No, thanks”.  My friends ask “What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you like chocolate?” I just shrug my shoulders and ignore it.

I have lost about 10kgs in 4 months. I have more energy, I can keep up with my friends better and I even came third in the 100m and 200m running races at athletics day on Friday. We now need to go shopping for much smaller uniform pants.
