The journey for me is not about weight loss, but about being the best person I can be. I'm not the type of person to post photos of myself, but after starting the TWP at the beginning of May, I have plucked up the courage to share some photos and a little bit about my journey as I am receiving compliments about my skin, that I don't look old enough to have boys who are nearly 28 and 30. So here goes…

“For the first time in 30 years I was waking up not feeling tired… I had so much energy it was remarkable.”
I have always being slim but never had the greatest of health due to some health issues, (predominantly a genetic disease) which I didn’t know about until I was 40. At school I was teased because I was so “skinny” and never participated in any sports or wanted to be seen at the beach or in shorts. If one more person tells me I am too thin or to eat a pie, I think I will explode. I really struggle with people thinking they can comment on people’s weight. You never hear people say “you are too fat”. Anyway moving on…
Last October I was struck with some mysterious illness (they call it a virus because no medical doctor could tell me what I had) that lay me low for five months. Four of those months I was house bound as I had no energy. Knowing I was gluten intolerant I decided to look more closely at food and stumbled across Pete Evans and Paleo. I didn’t know he had been in NZ promoting the Ten Week Program, but decided I would sign up and see what difference it made to my well being. I admit, I didn’t do the exercise component, as I am physically limited to some things, but did what I could in the way of walking or playing golf.
For the first time in 30 years I was waking up not feeling tired and that in itself was worth it. I had so much energy it was remarkable.
At the beginning I felt overwhelmed with all the prep work, but after a week it was like second nature. I can’t tell you the pleasure I receive by going back to basics and preparing all our food from scratch. It gives me immense satisfaction and makes me feel so proud.
I know I am a better wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. So, a big thank-you to Pete Evans, Nora, Luke, Helen, Kate and the team, for helping to make me a better person. This is my way of life now. Also a big thanks to the tribe — I love reading the posts, seeing people’s progress and I have learned so much from the FB page.
I hope the photos speak for themselves. The first one was taken last October just before I fell ill the second one was taken at my youngest son’s engagement party in July this year and the last one was taken 2 weeks ago. It’s still a work in progress; I want to be the best I can be for me.
Thanks for reading if you got through this far!
